Programs

We are a self help peer support and resource center for people who have or are experiencing mental health and addiction issues, including Substance and Alcohol abuse.

 

Offering a wide variety of programs and groups to serve our members’ needs. Not all programs can run at the same time, so if the program you need is not currently running ask to to be put on the wait list for that program. If there is a program you would like to see run you can request a program. If you do not know what programs are right for you staff will be glad to help you figure our what programs best fit your needs.

C.B.T. is a group that is designed to help people break down negative thoughts and beliefs that negatively affect our lives. The goal of C.B.T is to change these thoughts into a more balanced way of thinking which can lead to change in all aspects of our lives C.B.T has been used to help people living with depression, panic, anxiety, anger, Stress-related disorders, relationship problems, substance abuse and eating disorders.

This is a positive group to remind ourselves of all the positive we can accomplish in a week even when times are tough. It’s important to remember that even though we struggle there are many things to be thankful for on a day to day basis.

Concurrent Disorders describes a situation in which a person experiences a mental health disorder and a substance abuse issue and/or a gambling disorder. It is important to keep in mind that there are many different kinds of problems that are covered by these various terms (psychiatric disorder etc); as a result, Concurrent Disorders presents itself in many different forms. This group is for people living with a mental health and addiction issue.

Codependent relationships are a type of dysfunctional helping relationship where one person supports or enables another person’s addiction, poor mental health, immaturity, irresponsibility, or under-achievement. Among the core characteristics of codependency, the most common theme is excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, typically a partner who requires support due to an illness or addiction. They may looking to other people for approval and identity.

In this group we focus on learning how to be comfortable in our own skin. Learning to have confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect. Assertiveness training for those with low self-esteem.

Depressive disorder is a disabling condition which adversely affects a person’s family, work or school life, sleeping and eating habits, and general health. Depression group is for people living with depression, anxiety, panic, bipolar disorder etc.

Mindfulness simply means being in the present moment.  With practice mindfulness decreases stress, anxiety, depression and chronic pain.  By focussing on the moment, you let go of what is troubling you from the past and worry less about the future.  You will learn how different techniques can benefit you in different situations.
